The Journey for El Paso’s own American Idol, Julian Kalel, has just begun because Julian is heading to the next round on this season of American Idol!!

After capturing hearts in his American Idol audition and earning a golden ticket, El Paso’s own Julian Kalel continues to shine on the national stage. 

Previously, Julian opened up about his mental health journey, performing alongside his sister and using music as a way to challenge the stigma around anxiety and depression. His original songs, like Lone Guitar, touched on themes of hope, resilience, and the importance of staying another day, proving that vulnerability can be powerful, and now he will continue to spread that message on the American Idol stage!

Julian Kalel is in American Idol’s top 30

This past Monday, fans got to see Julian take the next step in his American Idol journey as the second week of Hollywood Week officially aired. Performing the classic song “I Can’t Make You Love Me”, Julian admitted he was nervous to sing a cover, since he’s used to performing his own music. But nerves didn’t hold him back!

Julian's rendition was flawless, earning a standing ovation and impressing the judges with both his vocal talent and emotional delivery. The performance secured his spot in the coveted Golden Room, where only the most outstanding contestants advance.

The final challenge of Hollywood Week was all about making it to the Top 30. Tension ran high as Luke Bryan called contestants’ names to the stage and Julian’s name was on that list. Luke confirmed that everyone called would be moving forward marking Julian as one of the Top 30 contestants of this season.

From an El Paso teen sharing his story on stage to now making waves in Hollywood, Julian Kalel’s journey on American Idol is far from over. He will now make his way to Disney Aulani in Hawaii where he will be challenged with the all new Ohana Round!
