More Pot Police Coming To New Mexico
A new "pot Po - Po posse" will soon ride across New Mexico as additional new officers start watching pot sales in the land of enchantment more closely.
From "seed to sale", as they say, all marijuana transactions in NM are monitored vey closely. This involves peeps inside the industry, not folks picking up their daily nugs'.
The rules governing New Mexico dispensaries are pretty tough and strongly enforced. Thing is, there are now so many dispensaries in operation; the weed police can't keep up.
There are a s**tload of dispensaries across New Mexico, even more than California and Colorado. (That's crazy, right? Lil 'ol NM out "weeding" gigantic Caly!?) Granted, part of the demand for all that weed is because of "pot tourists" from El Paso, Anthony and other Texas towns in the Borderland.
They have made Sunland Park, New Mexico the #2 city in the state for marijuana sales. The city of 20,000 peeps has somewhere around 40 dispensaries ... and only 1 grocery store.

There are so many that inspectors are having trouble keeping everybody on the up and up. Some retailers have been found lying about where they got their mota or selling pot products NOT allowed under NM's recreational marijuana provisions. Most are legit though.
However, some growers sell more than they report, under the table dealings happen in unlicensed dispensaries ... it's the wild west right now because state inspectors are understaffed.
What Does This Mean?
Nothing to customers, you guys just keep doing what you're doing. Be 21 or over, don't buy for others who are underage and don't come in all F'd up. It's the industry itself that needs to fly straight here as funding has been approved that means there's some new sativa sheriff's in town.
