Wendy’s Shuts Down Over 100 Locations! What’s at Stake for the Permian Basin?
2024 had been the year of closures and Wendy's did not make it off the list.
Wendy's announced that it is closing 140 locations in the United States. The good news is they will open the same number in different places which can generate better business for Wendy's.
CEO Kirk Tanner stated, that the stores closing are locations performing below average or outdated. This isn't the first round of closures Wendy's announced this year. In May they stated they were closing 100 locations across the United States.
These closures may be significant but Wendy's still has a high number of locations. Restaurants numbers are sitting at about 6000 stores across the United States. The chain will build 250 to 300 new locations with the updated design revealed in 2022.
The company is very optimistic about this quarter's performance because of the Spongebob Squarepants Krabby Patty Meal. Wendy's received a great response and high sales from the themed meal.
IS THE PERMIAN BASIN SAFE FROM THE CLOSURES
Could this be why the Midland Wendy's grill hasn't been working properly?
Unfortunately, the company has not released a list of the locations closing down. The reason? Wendy's said the locations aren't in any particular area.
Even if they end up closing any locations in the area they will most likely open another one in the same city but a different area. We can all agree that some of our local Wendy's can use an upgrade.
Let's hope they aren't like other companies, including Deny's and Shake Shack, who announced permanent closures this year.
