We are in December and even though you can't tell with the Texas weather, everyone is in the holiday spirit. Houses have their Christmas lights put up and holiday traditions have started. From Elf on the Shelf to kiddos sending their letters to Santa.

A tradition in my house is reading the kids The Polar Express every year. We light the fireplace, get in our pajamas, and sip on something warm while we read the book. I recently had to replace our book and went on the internet to find another copy when I stumbled upon The Polar Express Train Ride in Texas!

HOP ON THE TEXAS POLAR EXPRESS!

You can take a ride on the Piney Woods Excursion Train which is a part of the Teas State Railroad and watch the story come to life. The sixty-minute round-trip ride departs from the Palestine Depot.

As you board the train, Santa is there to give you warm greetings and a Christmas gift.. Once you are on board chefs will serve cookies and some cozy hot chocolate while reading The Polar Express. On the way back to the train depot the crew will lead the passengers in singing Christmas carols.

You can also purchase the official The Polar Express book when making reservations. It will be gift-wrapped as their first gift of the season, allowing them to enjoy reading along with the Chefs on their magical journey. Don't forget to dress in your coziest pajamas!

HOW TO GET TICKETS

The holiday season will pass before you know it! Get your tickets at the Texas State Railroad site before they are fully booked.

Since the early 1800s, Texas has been a railroad state, from steam engines to the modern-day Amtrak. Even more interesting is the fact that Texas is home to nearly 30 railroad museums.
