Will Midland/Odessa See Snow Tomorrow

If you have lived in West Texas for more than five minutes then you know that the weather can change on a dime, and most of the time we don't see it coming. We can have all four seasons in one day. We can dress for the winter in the morning and make a wardrobe change in the afternoon because it's so warm. If you started watching the weather last week the Permian Basin looked like it would get some snow. That is a correct statement for some parts of our area. If you live in the northern parts of the Permian Basin then it is likely you could see some snow, same to you that live in the southwest portion.

For the rest of the day, the cold wind is expected to blow and the Midland/Odessa area will see rainfall move in around 1 am.  The most northern part of the Permian Basin has the best chance of light accumulation. If any snow falls in the Midland/Odessa area it will just be a light dusting and probably nothing that will stick or accumulate.

Midland/Odessa may not be getting accumulating snow but we will have moisture and freezing temps, so you know what that means...ice.  Here is the forecast for tonight into Tuesday night according to the National Weather Service Midland: 

Tonight
Rain, possibly mixed with snow showers, mainly after midnight. Low around 37. Southeast wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tuesday
Rain and snow showers likely before 10am, then a chance of snow showers between 10am and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. East wind 10 to 20 mph becoming west in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
NewsWest9, Chief Meteorologist Anthony Franze: SNOW TOTALS: Snow totals will remain light, but some light accumulations are possible, especially in the northern Permian Basin and SE New Mexico. 1-2" of snow will be possible in areas like Hobbs, Seminole, Lamesa, and Snyder. Light accumulations of up to 1" are possible in Andrews & Big Spring. Further south towards Midland-Odessa, a dusting will be possible, but no significant accumulations are expected.
