The Texas Tech Men's Basketball program has made quite the name for itself in the past few years with its successful program. In 2019 the Red Raiders men's team made it all the way to the final four. Last year they finished in the Sweet Sixteen.

The program has had its fair share of ups and downs.  In 2016 Chris Beard lead the Red Raiders on an incredible run taking them to the Elite Eight and Final Four and then suddenly decided to end his six-season run at Texas Tech to begin a chapter at the University of Texas, as their head coach. Mark Adams who was an assistant to Beard was chosen to replace him and lead the team.

In Adams's first season with the Red Raiders, he led the team to the Sweet Sixteen. After losing four seniors his second season hasn't been the best but it's part of the game. On Sunday Mark Adams was suspended from his coaching duties after what is being called an inappropriate use of words with a player.

Last Friday Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt was made aware of a coaching season Adams held with a player. In that session Coach Adams used a reference to a scripture in the bible that talked about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters.

Coach Mark Adams addressed the team and the situation and apologized. After learning of the incident Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt made the decision to give Adams a written reprimand but eventually decided on suspending him.

As of right now, we don't know the fate of Coach Adams but we do know that the Texas Athletic Department is going to do a full investigation before making any other decisions.

Even though no further decisions have been made the rumor mill has already begun to run speculating that Coach Chris Beard could return after his dismissal from the University of Texas.
