
These Central Texas GameStop Locations Are Shutting Down
Video Games and electronic novelties have grown in popularity over the years. With stores offering multiple different things to purchase, everyone has options of where they can get their items. For many, that place is GameStop.
GameStop's History That Began In Texas
As revealed by BCG Matrix, 1984 was the beginnings of GameStop, albeit it was under a very different name. Before GameStop was brought into the marketplace, it was known as Babbage's. Babbage's main area of expertise was computer products.

However, video games soon became a hot ticket item in the world of technology, and Babbage's noticed the change. So, to keep up with the times, Babbage's rebranded to GameStop in 1999. But, things continue to change throughout the years after the rebrand.

Now, certain GameStops in the Central Texas area will be closed permanently.
Which GameStops In The Central Texas Area Are Closing?
As reported by WFAA, mutliple GameStops in Texas are being shuttered. Overall, the total number of GameStops closing in the United States is reaching over 470. 47 of those stores closing will be located in Texas.
The stores both in Central Texas and around the area of Central Texas are as follows:
- Austin
- Boerne
- Cedar Park
- Corsicana
- Marble Falls
- Stephenville
The stores will be closing this month, per WFAA, and it is unknown if more GameStops will be closing. As this is developing story, we will have more information in regards to more GameStops possibly closing in Central Texas.
