
Bell County Citizens, Be Ready For Water Restrictions In May
In Bell County, renovations seem to happening all once. Whether it be roads or buildings, improvements are appearing more and more frequently. For one major resource everyone uses, there's a big change coming at the end of the month, but there's something everybody in the area can do to help.
What Is The Change Coming To Bell County?
According to KWTX, a new water pipeline is set to finally be completed in the area by the end of May 2025. Here's what the pipeline will provide, as revealed by the news organization:
- Replacement of a 5,000-foot pipeline, originally four feet in diameter, with a new, high-capacity steel pipe.
- Construction of a new three-million-gallon ground storage tank, which will replace two aging tanks that have been in service for over 50 years.
While this is very exciting, there's still something that individuals who live in the area need to do to assist in making the transition easy for everyone.

What Can Residents In Bell County Due To Help?
Many who live in Bell County will need to do one thing between May 26th and 30th: reduce usage of water. Per General Manager of the Water Control and Improvement District #1 Ricky Garrett:
“We’re just asking for those few days if people could avoid outdoor watering. This helps ensure hospitals, emergency services, and firefighting operations aren’t impacted."
Areas included to limited water usage are Copperas Cove, Fort Cavazos, Harker Heights, Killeen, and Nolanville. If all goes to plan, there will be no need for additional guidelines to be placed on the previously mentioned areas.
