We're always hearing about new businesses and restaurants opening up in Amarillo, but what about the rest of the Texas Panhandle?

In Amarillo, residents have access to many businesses, while smaller towns have fewer choices and often travel to places like Amarillo. For instance, Amarillo has stores like Kohl’s, JCPenney, and Cavender’s for clothing. When it comes to tools and DIY, we have Lowe’s, Home Depot, and, for affordable items, Harbor Freight. Smaller towns don’t have access to these stores.

For one Texas Panhandle town, that is all about to change. Dumas is about to get a tool upgrade, and a popular tool store is coming to Demon territory. Harbor Freight is opening a store in Dumas.

Where the New Harbor Freight Will Be Located

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Harbor Freight is moving into Dumas. The store location will be at 212 W. 1st Street.

When Construction Will Begin and End on Dumas' Harbor Freight Store

Construction is expected to begin in January 2026 with a completion date of March 2026. The project is expected to cost $1.1 million.

It’s great to see our Texas Panhandle communities growing. What other businesses would you like to see in Dumas or other Panhandle towns? The more choices our small towns have, the more money stays local while supporting families, creating jobs, and encouraging community growth.

Even though the project is listed with the TDLR, plans do change, but as of now, Harbor Freight is coming to Dumas.

Main Streets of the Texas Panhandle

Main Streets are the heart of our towns. They were the place to be, the place to shop, the place to bank, the place to eat.

Over the years, Main Streets have gone by the wayside, but some of our towns have had huge revitalization of their main streets.
