Urgent Needs Before the Snow: Help 4 The Holidays Pushes On
As day two of Help 4 The Holidays in Amarillo came to an end, we were left with a sense of gratitude...and maybe a touch of panic. After a relatively strong day one, day two brought us a bit of a mixed bag.
It started with a lot of optimism as two donations had rolled in before 10 am, which is really good for a Tuesday. Then, we sat, and waited, and hoped, and wished that more would come through. Eventually it did, but HOURS passed before we saw that next car.
Late Night Donations Fuel Hope
It started with a lovely woman named Amy. She came through in the evening with a backseat full of toiletries for us. She was surprised to see us actually sitting outside as she figured we'd be inside to stay warm. We explained that we brave what others have to brave. She then told us she would be back with more.
Our last donation of the night came from Crystal, who does some work with a church (which one I forget, so my apologies), and they had some stuff left over from an event they held to help the homeless and others. She wasn't sure what to do with it until she heard what we were doing. Needless to say, the donation was welcomed and gave us a few items we hadn't seen yet.
What's On Tap For Day Three
Well, things are about to get tricky from what we understand. Not only are the temperatures dropping once again...but snow is coming. Models say it could hit as early as 3 pm today, or could wait until overnight and into tomorrow morning. Either way, it creates challenges.
So today, we need a MASSIVE day. Diapers (we have none), more toiletries, arts & crafts supplies (again, we have none), new or used eyeglasses, and children's books. These have to be the focuses of the day. Dollar stores are your friend! You can get a lot of what we need there and not spend a lot to get it done. Please come see us today at the old Vexus building in Wolflin Square. Here's the list if you need it.
