We are just a couple of weeks away from kick-off at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock and while the Red Raider Football team is putting in the practice on the field, Adidas and Texas Tech are showing off some new threads that the Red Raiders will wear to celebrate 100 years of Texas Tech Football.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Show Off New 100th Anniversary Uniforms

The uniforms unveiled last week aren't really throw back uniforms, instead they are throwback-inspired. It other words it's a mix of looks from the past. That starts with the word TECH across the front of the uniforms as it was in 1925. And do you remember the original Double T logo? It's back. Both on the special edition helmet and jersey. The OG Double T logo dates back to 1926. And for those wondering about the stars on the helmets, those date back to the Jim Carlen era of Texas Tech football in the early 70's.

When Will Texas Tech Wear The 100th Anniversary Uniforms?

Texas Tech will debut the new uniforms and celebrate its 100th anniversary this fall by wearing the throwback-inspired uniforms against Kansas on October 11. That's also the Homecoming game for the Red Raiders and a good crowd should be on hand for that game.

It's unknown at this time whether Texas Tech will wear the new uniforms for any other matchup this season.

Overall, I really like these uniforms and the nod to the past. I'm not a huge fan of the "RED RAIDERS" on the back of the jersey, but I'll live. I think they may have been better as a red jersey with white lettering/numbers, but for what will probably be a night game in October? I can see why they went with black. Plus the red block lettering does pop.
