Stay Alert: Texas to Increase Police Presence During Super Bowl Weekend

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has sent a warning to all football fans hitting the roads this weekend for Super Bowl celebrations. As fun as hanging out with friends with the TV set to one of the world's most-watched sporting event is, it's more important than ever to remain safe on the roads.

For those who don't speak Latin, this year marks the 60th (L=50, X=10) Super Bowl. The Seattle Seahawks will face the New England Patriots on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

A bird's eye view of the game is this: The Seattle Seahawks finished the regular season in the NFC West at 14 wins and 3 losses in conference play while the Patriots led the AFC East, also at 14 and 3.

I can't spoil any of the commercials planned on TV, but I can say that Charlie Puth will be singing the national anthem and Bad Bunny is scheduled for the halftime show.

Increased Police Presence on Texas Roads

All day from midnight to midnight on Sunday, February 8, DPS will be increasing patrols in efforts to reduce the risk of dangerous drivers and roadway accidents.

Violations that cops will be looking for the most include speeding, driving under the influence, and driving without a seatbelt.

DPS reminds all Texans that last year's Super Bowl saw over 1,300 citations: 50 arrests for drunk driving, 31 felony arrests, and 12 fugitive arrests statewide.
