A man whose DNA matched at least two sexual assault cases between Texas and Oklahoma has been arrested after years on the run.

It Took 5 Years to Find Answers

On October 10, 2021, a woman in Fannin County reported to law enforcement that she was a victim of sexual assault by a male suspect. She claimed that the two met on social media and at one point, he drove his sedan—with an Oklahoma registration—to her residence to pick her up.

The man reportedly drove her to a separate location and sexually assaulted her. Investigators were able to collect DNA evidence that was sent to the DPS Crime Laboratory in Garland to find a match.

After two months, investigators were finally notified of a potential match between the Fannin County case and a second sexual assault case out of Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Unfortunately, during collaboration efforts between the Texas Rangers and Oklahoma law enforcement, no matches were ever confirmed and no arrests could be made.

Suspect Finally Identified

Finally, in August 2024, DNA evidence from the Oklahoma case was sent for testing through the DPS' Sexual Assault Kit Initiative program. This revealed the DNA could have been from one of three brothers.

Further investigation while comparing the two sexual assault cases then revealed a positive match. 27-year-old Hunter Mackey was located and arrested in McLoud, Oklahoma on February 17, 2026.
