Texas Meth Kingpin Sentenced to Four Decades in Prison
In a real-life example of Breaking Bad, a meth cook and drug kingpin was recently sentenced to 40 years in federal prison.
Drug Trafficker Pleads Guilty
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Texas, 33-year-old Raymundo Bernal Saucedo, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute as well as aiding and abetting.
On March 11, Saucedo finally received his sentence of 480 months in prison.
He Led a Massive Smuggling Operation
Court records revealed that Saucedo personally oversaw a massive crystal meth drug sale. Officers obtained a search warrant for a storage unit where the transaction took place. Here they discovered 77 kilograms (170 pounds) of the illegal narcotic along with multiple firearms and a ledger documenting drug sales.
Saucedo was found to have men all throughout the meth sale process, from "cooking" the liquid form into a more distributable product to selling the drugs in bulk to clients.
Homeland Security Task Force Group One agents also discovered that Saucedo played an active role in acquiring the equipment and chemicals needed for cooking crystal meth. Several weapons were also found in his residence during a search.
But Wait, There's More
Prior to his arrest, Saucedo's phone was wiretapped by agents. It was here where they learned that, not only was he leading the massive meth distribution ring around the Dallas area, but he was also responsible for smuggling various contraband into Tennessee jail cells.
In total, Raymundo Bernal Saucedo was found responsible for the movement of 1,946,000 kilograms (4,290,195 pounds) of methamphetamine.
