South Texas Pep-Rally Features Huapangos, Cumbias, and Grito Contest
One thing I love about living in the state of Texas is the culture, especially in deep South Texas. Earlier this month, a pep rally at Donna High School in Donna, Texas, started to go viral on TikTok for all of the right reasons. The video shows a High School Tejano/Conjunto group performing the cumbia "Amor" and also a Huapango, and got the gym floor popping.

Of course, you need a Grito contest
If that wasn't enough to represent our culture, at one point of the pep rally, teachers and coaches joined in on a grito contest. Of course, the song that you would use for a grito contest would be Ramon Ayala's "Tragos Amargos." We love what the Donna Redskins are doing to keep our culture alive for the next generation.

Palmview High School in the 956 also continues the tradition
Over the years, Palmview High School has created some incredible Tejano and Conjunto talent, and here is the latest. The video below, posted to TikTok, shows the beginner conjunto group from Palmview High School and features a young lady on lead accordion.
