The vast majority of them are on the Texas Rangers, so let's take a look at the players who got their start right here in Texas before going to the big league.

World Series Officially Starts Friday

This Friday the Texas Rangers will be playing in their first World Series since 2011, meanwhile the Arizona Diamondbacks will be playing in their first since 2001. Both of these fan bases are hungry for a championship and looks like some local Texas kids may help them win it all. Let's start with the Texas Rangers.

Nathan Eovaldi (Signed with the Rangers This Year)

A new Texas Ranger has been in the league for over a decade getting his start in 2011 with the Dodgers. He's currently signed on a two year deal with the Rangers. Got his career started at Alvin High School over in Alvin, Texas. Was going to play for Texas A&M, but the Dodgers drafted him right of high school.

Robbie Grossman (Signed with the Rangers This Year)

That's right, another brand new Texas Ranger who grew up right here in Texas. Been in the league since 2013 and originally played for the other baseball team in Texas who the Rangers love to hate. Grew up in Cypress, Texas and played for Cy-Fair High School. Was going to play for the University of Texas at Austin, but was drafted out of high school by the Pirates. The Pirates would trade him to Houston in 2012.

Cody Bradford (Been a Texas Ranger His Entire Career)

Originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2019, Cody Bradford officially made his debut for the Texas Rangers this season. He went to Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas and did play his freshmen year for Baylor Bears. After that he decided to join the Texas Rangers minor league system.

Josh Jung (Been a Texas Ranger His Whole Career)

If I had to guess, probably the favorite Texas Ranger on the list. Pretty crazy that the Rangers drafted two Texas high school athletes in that 2019 draft. Josh grew up in San Antonio, Texas and went to Douglas MacArthur High School. Josh also played three seasons in college for Texas Tech University. He officially made his major league debut in 2022.

Grant Anderson (Been a Texas Ranger Since 2019)

Originally drafted by a Texas Rangers rival in 2018, the Seattle Mariners would trade Grant to Texas the following season. Grant went to high school in West Orange, Texas and attended West Orange-Stark High School. He's also the first person on our list who would not sign to Texas college. He played for McNeese State University which is in Louisiana. He pitched there for three seasons. Grant played his first big league game this season.

Jordan Lawler (Been a Diamondback His Entire Career)

Well finally we have our lone Diamondback on the list and you know what's funny? He probably grew up going to Texas Rangers games. Jordan went to Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and grew up in Carrolton. Which would be less than a thirty minute drive to Globe Life Field. So I assume some of Jordan's local family will be in attendance this weekend. Jordan actually made his major league debut just over a month ago on September 6th.
