Many Dallas Cowboys fans experienced something for the first time last night and that would be a tie football game. Let's look back at the history of ties in Dallas.

After a late night last night the Dallas Cowboys sadly could not come out with a win, not a loss either. The Dallas Cowboys have not tied in over five decades, so I thought it would be fun to look back at those old games with some fun facts.

1. The Only Highlight to the First Dallas Cowboys Team is a Tie

If you don't know your Dallas Cowboys history, the original team of 1960 is considered one of the worst NFL teams of all time. The team did not win a single game in their first season. They became the first NFL team after World War 2 to have a literal zero winning percentage. However, on December 4, 1960 they tied the New York Giants 31-31. They had rattled off ten consecutive losses before this game. A tie probably felt amazing after what they had gone through.

That's what they were called back then! Before anybody starts freaking out. The longtime rival of the Dallas Cowboys would tie in consecutive years. In 1961 with a final score of 28-28 and in 1962 with a final score of 35-35.

3. Dallas Cowboys Tie St. Louis Cardinals in Busch Memorial Stadium

The team you know today as the Arizona Cardinals was actually the St. Louis Cardinals from 1960-1987. I did not know that both the Cardinals in the MLB and NFL played in the exact same stadium. I imagine that was very confusing in October while both sports are going on and you're trying to figure out what Cardinals team is at home that week. The Cowboys would tie the Cardinals 10-10 in 1966. Another fun fact, the final game for the St Louis Cardinals (NFL) in 1987 would be against the Dallas Cowboys.

4. Texas Stadium Never Had a Tie

Known for the giant hole in the roof and the Dallas Cowboys home from 1971-2008. The Dallas Cowboys of this era never tied once. The Cowboys tied four times at the Cotton Bowl, once at Yankees Stadium, and another at Busch Memorial Stadium. You can now add one tie at AT&T Stadium to that list after last night.

5. Dallas Cowboys Last Tie Came on Thanksgiving

Before last night's game, the Dallas Cowboys last tie was actually a Thanksgiving game. Nov. 27, 1969 the Dallas Cowboys brought the San Francisco 49ers into town for their annual holiday tradition. The final score would be 24-24, it would be the only time the Dallas Cowboys would tie on Thanksgiving.
