****Update**** Authorities have released the name of the man found on the tracks, Jonathan Earl Johnson, 50, of Lufkin. The cause of death is still not known, and autopsy reports are pending.

It was quite a shock yesterday morning, waking up to the news that someone had found a man dead on the train tracks in Lufkin. At first, I thought that they might have gotten hit by a train, but those aren't the details being released.

Lufkin Police are investigating the death discovered Sunday morning on the railroad tracks between Abney and Angelina Streets. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

The name of the man is also being withheld until the family can be notified of the death. That is understandable; I would hate to find out that a family member had passed on the local news. According to the Lufkin Daily News, the department expects to release all of that information today, and we will have updates on this story to make those changes.
