Lufkin Foundation Helps Single Moms
Raising a family by yourself is a daunting task, and there are many single-parent families in the Lufkin area. Most of these families are led by strong women who want to do the right thing by their children and work for a better future for their children.
If one of those children has special needs, it puts single-parent homes in an impossible situation. Caring for a child with a disability, working, and getting an education can be tough all at once.
According to KTRE, the Beyond The Diagnosis Foundation is raising money for single moms in these types of situations. Being the primary caregiver to a child with a disability is part of the criteria you must meet for this assistance.
Foundation Provides More Than Financial Help For Lufkin Mothers
The Beyond the Diagnosis Foundation had a basketball/volleyball tournament as a fundraising event this past weekend. The money raised is going directly into the organization to provide grants and scholarships for these moms in our area.
"There are services for single moms, and there are services for kids with disabilities. Our mission is to bridge that gap," according to founder Shalyn Cofer.
