Lufkin Restaurant Cools Down For Summer
Driving into work today in Lufkin, I could not help but notice an enormous crane beside Logan's Roadhouse. I just knew that meant they were putting a new air conditioning unit on the roof as summer heats up.
I remember when Logan's was built and being one of the first people to try the food there. They brought out all the dishes from the menu for the local media to check out.
It is hard to believe that they have been there so long now that they are replacing an air conditioner. They can last up to 20 years, much like the units in our homes that we need this time of year to stay comfortable.
Logan's Road House In Lufkin Just Got A Lot Cooler
One of the things that stuck with me from that preview at Logan's was their emphasis on ice-cold beer. I thought that was just a given, but not so, according to managers at the time.
Now they have a new AC unit to keep the inside of the building as cool as the beer in their coolers. This restaurant has been in Lufkin since February/ March of 2007.
I remember them receiving demerits during health inspections because of their company's policy that lets customers throw used peanut shells on the floor.

According to an article in the Lufkin Daily News from around the time when the restaurant was about to open, the building is 7,268 square feet. That is a lot of area to keep cool.
