If you were hoping to one day take your daughter to Claire's and have her ears pierced just like you did, you might have a hard time in Lufkin. The jewelry and accessories chain stores have filed for bankruptcy and announced the closure of many stores nationwide.

The majority of Claire's locations in North America will remain open as the company finds alternatives to closing more stores.

Lufkin is not on the posted lists of Claire's closings, but the sign in front of the store in the Lufkin Mall states otherwise. The only Claire's in Texas formally listed in the recent round of closures is for an Icing store in the Mall of Abilene.

Is Claire's Closing All Of Their Stores?

According to the Shreveport Times, the retailer filed for bankruptcy on August 6th and identified over 1,100 stores that could close soon. That would leave only around 226 stores left in operation.

Claire's new competition from brands like Shein and Temu, along with high rental costs, are reasons for retail woes. Unless Claire's is sold quickly, the company will have to shut down all of their stores across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Claire's CEO, Chris Cramer, said the company solicited bids for its business and has received multiple letters of intent to buy it. The store's closing sales will stop if a sale happens.
