Led Zeppelin’s Live E.P. Is Out — And You Could Win Your Own Copy Today
I won’t be the first person to wax poetic about Led Zeppelin, and I certainly won’t be the last.
I was there when they were the biggest thing in the world. I’ll confess I didn’t own a Zeppelin album until Houses of the Holy came out in 1973—but I caught up quickly and followed them for the rest of their run. And even now, 50 years later, they still hold that spark.
A New Look at an Old Legend
I recently caught Becoming Led Zeppelin on IMAX, and it gave me a whole new perspective on the band. Things weren’t quite as mystical as I remembered them—but somehow they were cooler, on a deeper and more human level.
It reminded me that nearly every Led Zeppelin song was really just a launchpad for the band to jam. Sure, they had to play something like “Stairway to Heaven” fairly faithfully, but it was during the improvisations that they were at their absolute best.
The Led Zeppelin Live E.P. Brings That Energy Back
Case in point: the version of “Trampled Under Foot” on the new Led Zeppelin Live E.P.. It starts out like the version on Physical Graffiti—just a little faster—and then stretches that five-minute song into an eight-minute groove-filled jam. It’s pure, unfiltered Zeppelin magic.
The Live E.P. was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti and features four powerhouse tracks:
In My Time Of Dying
Trampled Under Foot
Sick Again
Kashmir
