I know one person in real life whom I consider filthy rich. I would guess his net value is around 10 million, and while he works incredibly hard, he also wants for nothing.

And what's particularly wild is that his fortune would be considered pocket change to the most wealthy in Texas- especially our resident wealthiest man in the world, Elon Musk, who makes ten times that amount in a day (although I imagine that depends on the particular day).

Why Do Billionares Love Texas So Much?

I imagine the lack of an income tax has something to do with it. Texas has a tax environment that helps wealthy people stay wealthy.

Texas also has a business-friendly climate, and many billionaires like to live near where their respective companies are located (if applicable- some of these people inherited their money).

Some on this list are billionaires thanks to oil and gas- which were drilled right here in our energy-rich state.

Additionally, Texas has an overall robust economy. But money and business aside, I like to think they also enjoy our beautiful state and unique culture. And some of these billionaires grew up here, so they are simply staying in the home that's treated them so favorably.

Forbes World's Billionare List Has Many Texans

Forbes's list includes all 3,028 billionaires in the entire world. The top four wealthiest billionaires all live in the U.S., and we all know the top wealthiest is right here in Texas. However, another Texan breaks into the list at #17 overall: Michael Dell.

Here's a look at the top ten wealthiest of the wealthy with strong ties to Texas- people who invented, innovated, or simply inherited and have a massive amount of personal wealth.
