Texarkana High School Artists Shine at Top Texas Art Competition
It looks like a big congratulations is due to three Texarkana students at Texas High School for bringing home some top awards at a state art competition recently.
Texarkana ISD announced that Elizabeth Sharp, Hollyn Gerrald and David Morales-Simon all earned top awards at the 2025 Visual Arts Scholastic Event, which took place in San Marcos on April 25 and 26.
They each received a Rating lV Superior Medalist award. This award is the highest you can get at the event! They excelled in their creativity, skill and unique styles. On top of that, their artwork was also considered for the Gold Seal Award, which is only given to a few top-rated works across the state.
Ben Renner, the Texas High School Principal, said in a press release,
We are incredibly proud of Elizabeth, Hollyn, and David for their remarkable achievements. Their dedication, creativity, and artistic growth are truly inspiring.

VASE is the biggest high school art competition in Texas. The competition is run by the Texas Art Education Association. Students participating in the event show their work to professional judges, and they also meet other artistic students and receive feedback to help them grow their artistic skills and creativity.
A big Congratulations to these talented students!
