Texarkana, Arkansas, Police received a notification at approximately 4:13 p.m. from the Texarkana, Texas Police Department regarding a high-speed pursuit that crossed over the state line on the Arkansas side of town.
The suspect vehicle, a gold Mercury Grand Marquis, was spotted entering the state on East 12th Street from North State Line Avenue.
TTPD police officers continued their pursuit through several streets before being joined by TAPD officers in the 1000 block of Locust Street. The police officers maintained radio contact during the chase, relaying the suspects' whereabouts.
During the chase, the suspect failed to stop at multiple intersections and recklessly passed a stopped school bus with its red lights activated in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue.
After ignoring speed limits and driving 25 miles per hour over the posted city limit, the suspect tried to turn around near East 32nd Street. The chase came to a halt when the suspect's vehicle collided with a utility pole on East 31st Street.
The driver then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by TTPD Officer Lummus and was later identified as Anthony Epps. He was arrested on charges of felony fleeing, reckless driving, passing a stopped school bus, and misdemeanor fleeing on foot.
Epps already had an active misdemeanor warrant from the Conway Police Department for failure to appear. Epps was transported to St. Michael’s South for medical evaluation following the crash. After being cleared by medical staff, Epps was booked into the Miller County Jail.

This case highlights the collaborative efforts between the two Texarkana police departments working together to bring this to an end and contain a dangerous situation while protecting the public and apprehending the suspect.
