Texarkana College Students Prepare Emergency Drill for 2026 Airshow
Texarkana College students will take part in the Texarkana Municipal Airport’s federally required emergency response exercise on October 8, 2025.
Emergency Training for the 2026 Texarkana Airshow
Held every three years, the drill prepares first responders and airport staff for real-world emergencies. This year will primarily focus on the upcoming Texarkana Airshow planned for June 2026.
The airport’s fire, police, EMS, and air-traffic teams, with Texarkana College’s Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, and Aviation Maintenance Technician programs, will work with skilled professionals to practice realistic critical skills under high-pressure situations in the event of an actual emergency at a major public event, such as the airshow.
Airport Director Paul Mehrlich called the drill “essential for ensuring our airport and community are ready for any emergency.”
Airport Fire Chief Dexter Boyce praised the college’s involvement for making the simulation more authentic.
Keeping Our Community Safe in the Event of an Actual Emergency
