An Harrison, Arkansas, man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges connected to a 2023 Boone County homicide.

Donald Calderwood Jr., 31, pleaded guilty this past Monday, January 12, in Boone County Circuit Court to First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Residential Burglary, and Theft of Property. The charges were filed in connection with the death of a Boone County man found inside his home nearly two years ago.

Following the guilty plea, the court sentenced Calderwood to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Victim Found Dead in Bellefonte Home

The case stems from the death of 63-year-old Dale Eugene McEntire of Bellefonte, Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), the Boone County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance after a friend went to check on McEntire and discovered him dead inside his residence on June 26, 2023. After determining the death was suspicious, a joint investigation began.

Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division agents were assigned to the case and worked alongside deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office to identify a suspect.

Arrest Made Following Joint Investigation

As a result of the investigation, Calderwood was developed as a suspect in McEntire’s death.
