
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Continues Search For Missing 73-Year-Old Man
The Polk County Sheriff's Office continues to seek the public's assistance in locating a 73-year-old man who has been missing for over a week.
Description of the Missing Man
W.J. Wallace, who is diagnosed with a cognitive impairment, was last seen on Monday, September 8, near the 1200 Block of FM 3186 in Onalaska, Texas. This is located just south of the intersection with Highway 190. Wallace is described as a Black male, 73, and was last seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, blue jeans, and western boots. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 162 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes.

Wallace Suffers From Cognitive Issues
Officials with the Polk County Sheriff's Office believe that, due to his condition, Wallace's disappearance poses a credible threat to his own health and safety. Anyone who has seen Wallace since September 8 or has information regarding his whereabouts should contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 936-327-6810. You may also dial 9-1-1, especially if you make a current sighting of him.
Silver Alert Issued
The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Silver Alert for Wallace on Tuesday, September 16. A continuation of that alert was reissued today (Wednesday). A Silver Alert is issued to notify the public to help find a missing person who is vulnerable due to age or cognitive conditions. In many cases, Silver Alert subjects suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
