What's The Average Temperature For This Time of Year?

Christmastime in Deep East Texas brings an average high temperature of 60 degrees, with overnight lows of around 40 degrees. We have experienced temperatures 20 degrees above that during this recent heat wave. Last-minute Christmas shoppers have been dressing like it's early summer as they have been flooding area stores.

How Much Longer Will This Heat Last?

Forecasters expect winter temperatures to return by late Sunday. A strong polar front should blast through East Texas beginning Sunday afternoon in the ArkLaTex and then pushing through the Pineywoods later in the evening. The highs on Sunday will still reach into the 70s ahead of the front, but by Monday, many locations in East Texas will not get above 49 degrees. That could represent a 30-degree shift from Sunday to Monday. Low temperatures could get close to freezing by Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Any Chances For Snow in East Texas?

Sorry...no snow is expected from this cold front. There could be some light snow early next week across parts of the Texas Panhandle, but that's about it. Portions of the Pineywoods may see some scattered showers as the front passes on Sunday afternoon and evening.
