The showdown between Barbers Hill and Lufkin is our Friday Night Frenzy featured game of the week, sponsored by Pilgrim's - Nacogdoches. These are two very talented teams. Lufkin is ranked #7 in the Class 5A - Division 1 in Dave Campbell's rankings. In the MaxPreps rankings, Barbers Hill is ranked 18th, while Lufkin is ranked 19th.
This is also the district opener for both teams; Lufkin's only district loss last year was to Barbers Hill at Abe Martin Stadium, plus Lufkin's new head coach (Carl Abseck) was previously the head football coach at Barbers Hill. So, quite a few underlying stories are going on with this game.
