Donated Suitcase Bought for Five Bucks, Yields Hidden 50 Grand

A suitcase being sold at a thrift shop in Australia for five dollars turns out to have 50 thousand dollars hidden in a secret compartment.

According to The Sunshine Coast Daily, the new owners of the suitcase alerted police of the stash inside.

Police found the previous owner, an elderly woman, who had forgotten she had hidden the cash in a hidden pocket inside the suitcase.

The suitcase was apparently donated when the woman left it behind in her old home after she moved.

Police know the woman is the rightful owner of the money but she will have to wait a month to reclaim the cash.
