Dave Mustaine: Megadeth Plan on Returning to Studio in Late 2017
Following the success of Megadeth’s 2016 full-length, Dystopia, the thrash legends are excited to start creating another record. In a new interview with Dave Mustaine, he revealed Megadeth plan to enter the studio at the end of this year, likely in November or December.
To many Megadeth fanatics, Dystopia is the band’s strongest effort in over a decade. The album’s title track even won Megadeth the Best Metal Performance Grammy that eluded them for 11 consecutive nominations. Things couldn’t be better for the guys, as they’re currently touring with Meshuggah and will crush arenas with Scorpions later this year.
As for Megadeth’s upcoming 16th studio album, Mustaine told No Brown M&Ms, “We plan on going back in the studio, we’re probably gonna go back in and start throwing some ideas around at the end of the year. We’re thinking about November or December.”
Mustaine are especially excited to start writing with new drummer Dirk Verbeuren. “As good as [Chris] Adler was, Dirk’s feet are more advanced and I didn’t think that was possible because Chris is such a great drummer. There’s a reason why Chris recommended Dirk. I love him for that, he’s a really solid friend for making that recommendation. A lot of guys wouldn’t do that, but he’s a true friend. [Dirk] is one of the most pleasant, easy to get along with guys I’ve ever met in my life … I’ve never, ever, ever seen him not smile.”
In other Dave Mustaine news, the frontman’s vineyards were just honored with platinum and gold honors at recent wine competitions. Not bad to put up next to your platinum and gold records!
