Danzig Release Eerie Black and White Video for ‘Last Ride’
Black Laden Crown marked the first Danzig album stocked with original material since 2010's Deth Red Saboath. The album has been received well from fans and critics alike as it possesses a fine balance of the band's signature riff-hungry attack and more stripped down, bluesy offerings and a new music video has been made for the minimalist-leaning "Last Ride."
The song writhes in squealing pinch harmonics and droning leads set against despondent, barren riffs, which set the stage for this black and white video. A few clips show the Danzig band members playing in front of a background littered with human skulls, but the video maintains a greater focus on the leather-clad Glenn Danzig and the primary character, an open-shirted blonde woman aiming to hitch a ride along Route 13.
It's been a big year for Danzig with his Blackest of the Black festival already in the books and more special events on the horizon. The group will set out on a week-long trek starting Sept. 7 (dates here) where they are expected to perform Danzig III: How the Gods Kill in its entirety. The group will also perform the landmark album at this year's Riot Fest.
When speaking with Full Metal Jackie earlier this year, Glenn was asked how much unreleased material he has lying around. “A bunch. Yeah, so there’s probably at least four songs that I haven’t even done anything other than a scratch book on for this record," the singer began. "And they’re good songs, it’s just that the ones I picked I felt were better or the ones that didn’t make it, there may be a couple that I just didn’t have the time to devote to it because it was such a good song. I really want a great vocal for it, a great melody. They’ll have to wait.”
