Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya + More Celebrate Sumerian Records in New York City

Sumerian Records is celebrating a decade as a label with a hard-hitting tour featuring Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, After the Burial and more, and the trek recently made a stop at New York City's Gramercy Theater.

Born of Osiris headlined the night and unleashed force from beginning to end. The band performed new tracks like “The Other Half of Me,” “The Sleeping and the Dead,” “Throw Me in the Jungle,” “Illuminate,” “Resilience” and more from their latest album, Soul Sphere.  Born of Osiris fans also sweated it out and sang along to favorite hard-hitting songs “Bow Down,” “Open Arms to Damnation” “Abstract Art,” “Follow the Signs” and the set-ending “Recreate.”

The crowd was already worked into a sweat by Veil of Maya’s performance, as the band took the stage beforehand for a lively set of their own. From his 2014 Knotfest debut with the band to present day, frontman Lukas Magyar has really come into his own and delivers each track with fierceness. The rest of Veil of Maya always brings their all when they hit the stage, as the Chicago boys are currently in support of their latest album Matriarch, the first album to feature vocalist Magyar.

It’s been a tumultuous time for After the Burial and despite the death of their guitarist Justin Lowe, the band released a new album aptly titled Dig Deep. The band shared their grief and hardships they faced, as they performed new tunes “Collapse” and “Lost in the Static." Their set was definitely one of the standout performances of the night.

Opening bands included progressive metalers Erra, hailing from Alabama, and California metal act Bad Omens, who got the intense crowd going early on. Check out our photos above of Born of Osiris and Veil of Maya performing in New York City.
