Bob Dylan to Release Rare ‘60s Live Recordings
Bob Dylan will release Live 1962 – 1966: Rare Performances From the Copyright Collections, a collection of live performances previously available on a limited basis, in very small quantities.
The Sony release will be available July 27.
The songs in the two-CD set are drawn from limited-run compilations Sony has released in the past six years to protect the recordings from European copyright law, which stipulates that recordings that remain unreleased for 50 years enter the public domain.
Among the treasures unearthed in the new set are a duet with Joan Baez on “When the Ship Comes In” recorded at the March on Washington, shortly before Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” Speech. There is also a version of “One Too Many Mornings,” recorded in London for broadcast on the BBC, and the earliest known version of “Blowin’ in the Wind,” taped in 1962 at New York’s Gerde’s Folk City.
Dylan is currently on a world tour that will take him to Seoul, South Korea, on July 27. It is scheduled to wrap up Aug. 28 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
You can see the track listing for the new set below.
