Yesterday I watched the season premiere of Better Call Saul. It was great, exactly what I was hoping for and Bob Odenkirk is brilliant. However, I didn't realize how much I had forgot from season one. And having been catching up on Breaking Bad, other things came to light as well.

  1. When it came to his real name being McGill, I didn't remember that he actually mentions this in Breaking Bad. But he does. When Walt first meets Saul, he's acting as Badger's dad, Mr. Mayhew. Saul mentions he's a "fellow potato eater" and that his real name is McGill.
  2. The stock broker from the Season 2 premiere is a throw back to Breaking Bad. You might remember Ken driving a BMW with the license plate "KEN WINS." In one scene going into the bank he cuts off Walt, taking his parking spot. Then Walt gets to watch Ken blab on his Bluetooth about business. This sets up Walt's next run in with Ken at the gas station, where Walt takes advantage of Ken not paying attention to his car while he's in the store and blows it up. So this past episode of Breaking Bad we learned that Ken, also got taken for a ton of money on Tequila shots from Jimmy McGill.
  3. I had completely forgot about Sandpiper Crossing that they were talking about in the Season 2 premiere. That was the retirement home where Jimmy had a bunch of clients, and he figures out that the heads of the retirement community are charging their residents too much money.
  4. And in case you were wondering about the timeline with this show compared to the opening scene and Breaking Bad.
    1. Better Call Saul (the main story of Jimmy McGill we see, not including any flashbacks) takes place in 2002.
    2. Breaking Bad takes place form 2009 to 2011.
    3. The opening scenes of Better Call Saul are obviously after the events of Breaking Bad because Saul is now in hiding under the name Gene in Omaha, Nebraska.
