The annual Bataan Memorial Bike Run is Saturday, May 14th, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Enjoy not only a beautiful ride but also food, drinks, fun and music!

The covid-19 pandemic caused an interruption in this annual run but it's back and better than ever in a new location, the amazing Inn Of The Mountain Gods. The event honors the memory of soldiers from New Mexico who were forced to endure the infamous  Bataan Death March. Men like Julio Barela and Father Albert Braun just to name a couple. Mr. Barela was one of it's oldest survivors and Father Braun was a Priest and Lt. Colonel known as the "Warrior Priest".

Registration for the run takes place at the Inn Of The Mountain Gods, beginning at 10:00am. $20 per rider/card holder. The flier below says money raised will go to veterans causes and 2/4 Marine Gold Star Families, as it pretty much always has but this year a last minute change was made. The majority of the funds raised will now go to the fire victims of the McBride and Nogal Fires. All bikes and bikers are welcome. Those who don't ride are welcome to come have fun, (and donate!), during the after party at the Inn Of The Mountain Gods. For more info, call (575) 430-2545.

I'll be there as well hosting the festivities. It's not only a beautiful ride, it's also much cooler up there so you'll get a nice break from the Borderland heat. From El Paso, take US-54 North about 80 miles to Alamogordo. Las Cruces residents can get there via Highway 70. From there, it's only about 50 more miles via Highway 70 to Ruidoso. Watch for the Inn of the Mountain Gods marquee on the left.
