You would think with all the crazy names that celebrities have come up with for their babies, that it really doesn't matter what you name your baby. Well, think again. Here are the names and rules you must follow when naming your baby in Texas and the US.
NAMES BANNED BY THE US
According to today.com...here are some names that have been found illegal to use in the United States.
1. SANTA CLAUS
It is illegal to use the name Santa Claus. I guess there's only 1 person named Santa Claus up in the North Pole as well.
2. ADOLF HITLER
Yep, it's illegal to name your kid Adolf Hitler. Why would you want to?
3. JESUS CHRIST
The name has been ruled ILLEGAL when people have tried to use it.
4. III
This one is interesting. You can not use this numeral.
5 @
Well, Prince did it, but I guess there are certain symbols you can not use. Like this one.
6. King or Queen
What, you can't proclaim your kid a King or Queen?
NAMES BANNED IN TEXAS
According to the bump... here are some rules in place that restrict what names can be given in Texas.
1. NAMES THAT ARE OVER 100 LETTERS
Yep, keep it under 100. This is for first, middle, and last names total. Wow, who knew. Let me count my letters in my full name.
2. NAMES THAT HAVE SPECIAL CHARACTERS, NUMBERS, AND DIACRITICAL MARKS CAN NOT BE USED
Are they sure about this one? Again, symbols are a no-no in Texas. Diacritical marks are like accents, tildes (ñ) or umlauts (ö). Texas has actually tried to change this so people can use accents and stuff on their names. Apparently, you can use it but it won't be on the birth certificate that way. Again, they are trying to change that rule if they haven't already. Also, you can not use numbers. So, you can have Jim Smith III but not Jim Smith the 3rd!
