Victoria Tristan has been charged with injury to a child, a first-degree felony, after leaving her 1-year-old daughter unattended in the bathtub back in January, according to an arrest affidavit shared by KCEN.

Timeline of Baby's Death in Bathtub

When questioned, Tristan told officers she put the 1-year-old in the tub and washed her off, leaving the water running. Minutes later, she left the baby alone and sat down on a bed, texting on her phone. She leaned over to rest, then fell asleep for what she says was a few minutes. After waking up, Tristan told police she went into the bathroom and the tub was overflowing. She then took the baby out of the tub and attempted CPR, but the child didn't respond.

Phone records show Tristan texting for five minutes before searching YouTube, then calling 911. The Travis County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was drowning, ruling it an accident.
