‘Star Wars’ Creatives Meeting to Address Carrie Fisher’s Expanded Role in Sequels
Without knowing the scope of Carrie Fisher’s role in the upcoming Star Wars sequels, it’s difficult to speculate about how Lucasfilm might address her recent passing. But a new report has uncovered key details (and potential spoilers) regarding General Leia’s narrative arc in Episodes VIII and IX, and reveals that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is planning to meet with director Colin Trevorrow next week to contemplate their options for Leia’s role in the forthcoming sequels.
Those ‘Rogue One’ Reshoots Changed a Lot More Than the Original Ending
If you go back and watch the trailers and TV spots for Rogue One after you see the movie, a couple of things are glaringly obvious: First, you’ll notice a ton of scenes that don’t appear in the theatrical version, and second, it’s easy to sort of piece together the film’s original ending (recently confirmed by director Gareth Edwards) — all of which suggests that the reshoots were a bit more extensive than Lucasfilm wanted us to believe. According to the film’s editors, that’s certainly the case, and those reshoots changed a whole lot more than just the ending.
New ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Rumors Tease Returning Replicant and Deckard’s Hideout
We have not one, but two new Blade Runner 2049 rumors today, both of which may reveal some interesting details about Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic. And while these details remain unconfirmed (for now), you may want to proceed with caution — potential spoilers ahead, you know the drill. But if you’re feeling particularly reckless today, please, by all means, read on.
Scarlett Johansson Is the Highest-Grossing Actor of 2016
Near the end of every year, Forbes releases their rankings of the top actors in Hollywood based on their box-office value and earnings (along with a list of the most overpaid actors, which is always interesting). This year, Scarlett Johansson tops the list of the highest-grossing actors in Hollywood, followed closely by Marvel co-stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., who tied for second place. What makes Johansson’s ranking even more notable, however, is her earnings — while RDJr. placed ninth on this year’s list of the highest-paid actors with $33 million, Johansson ranked third on the actress list with $25 million.
‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Delivers That ‘Matrix’ Reunion in New Photo
We have a few days before the end of 2016, but more importantly, less than two months before John Wick is thinking he’s back again — this time with a canine upgrade, some new assassins, and a delightful reunion with Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. In keeping with the spirit of the season, Lionsgate has released a new photo from John Wick: Chapter 2, giving us a preview of that mini-reunion along with a few details about Fishburne’s role in Wick’s world.
‘Silence’ Is Brutal in the International Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Passion Project
As Silence prepares to hit select theaters this weekend (the rest of you will have to wait until January), Paramount has unveiled a new international trailer for Martin Scorsese’s long-developing passion project — an epic drama based on Japanese author Shusaku Endo’s acclaimed novel. There are a couple of notable things about this trailer for Silence: For one, it’s a bit more intense than the domestic versions, and because it’s a Japanese trailer, the Japanese cast members are more prominently featured.
What Is Going On in This Terrifying Trailer for Russian Horror Movie ‘The Bride’?
Unless you’re fluent in Russian (and we’re not), you’ll have a hard time figuring out what the story is in this new trailer for an upcoming horror film called The Bride. The subtitles aren’t in English, so we’re definitely missing out on what appears to be some sort of narrative setup, but one thing is for sure: Whatever the hell is going on in this trailer, it’s terrifying.
‘Rogue One’ Character Posters Hide the Death Star Plans in Plain Sight
In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Felicity Jones’ rebellious Jyn Erso and her team are on a mission to retrieve the plans to the Death Star which, judging by these new character posters, have been right in front of their faces THE ENTIRE TIME. Actually, on their faces, and they look like intricate Etch-a-Sketch doodles uploaded to the Grid in Tron.
