Are the Olympics in China a Sham and a Farce?
I will be honest, I have not been paying much attention to the Olympics this year. I do not have any type of cabled TV, and I do not keep a Peacock membership, so it is not something I accidentally come across. I also just do not care that much, but I have seen a lot of interesting stories coming out of the games that make me think it could all be a sham to make China look good. Here are my reasons to think this.
1. China has American athletes competing for them
A few different athletes decided to compete for China. This is not completely unheard of, but it does not usually happen when an athlete was born and raised in the US. Eileen Gu has now become a national hero and model for China, which has been extremely profitable for her. This amounts to China paying American athletes to compete for them. This hurts the credibility of the Olympics this year.
2. The Russians have already been caught cheating
Does this surprise anyone. Russia can’t even use their own name or flag in the Olympics due to their cheating, and they still try to find a way to cheat. Kamila Valieva, one of the 15-year-old child skating “prodigies” that Russia brought to the Olympics made history when she became the first woman to land a quadruple. She has also now been caught using a banned substance. So far nothing has been done about it, although we are waiting to see if they give her the gold medal or not.
3. China has a cheating judge on their side
We now know that a judge that was kicked out of the Olympics last time for cheating for China has been allowed to judge for the Bejing Olympics. According to Insider, “Chinese ice skating judge Huang Feng was banned for one year after Pyeongchang 2018.” He was banned due to obvious China bias.
4. China is not treating athletes from other countries well
China has now been accused of not feeding athletes that have been put into quarantine, putting athletes in quarantine that did not need it, and even not allowing athletes to leave quarantine when it was time. This is another form of cheating in my opinion. China is trying to break down athletes and keep them from practicing. In some instances, they may miss their competition altogether.
This is insane. Why did we allow our athletes to go through all this. We already know that they are going to be tracked. We are now putting some of our best athletes in danger and they can’t even get a fair shake. We should have boycotted the Bejing Olympics completely.
