Back in the summer of 2020, Terrace West Nursing and Rehabilitation closed its doors suddenly and now the building is in the process of being demolished.

NewsWest 9 reported on the closure in June 2020 and stated that the parent company, Daybreak Venture, closed the facility because of its deteriorating condition.

The facility was a 133-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility located at 2800 N. Midland Dr. and had been in operation since at least the early part of the 1970s, movement started showing up around the facility at the beginning of summer with windows and furnishings being removed.

The windows were then covered by plastic probably to remove molded areas of the building before they demolished it for the safety of the workers and surrounding neighbors.

The building as far as I can tell is not old enough to have asbestos, but that could have been another reason the windows were covered up.

Back when it closed the residents and employees were shocked by the lack of notice given by the owners that the facility was being shut down.

The employees and residents were first notified on June 16, 2020, but the facility's official closing was August 15, 2020, which was the required amount of time required by law to shut a nursing facility down.

But residents and employees on June 16, 2020, were notified to leave Terrace West within 7 days and not the required 60 days required by law which left a lot of residents of the facility and their families scrambling to get them relocated quickly.

No word if anyone has bought the property and they are demolishing the building to build something else, or if the vacant land would be easier to sell, which would be another reason for the demolition, only time will tell.
