It seems that Americans who are looking to move are seeking the Lone Star State.

The nation's moving rate has steadily declined since 2017 and then to make that statistic even worse, the pandemic hit. However, folks who are still packing to move up are heading south.

Four of the top 10 most popular cities to move to last year are fact in Texas. The previous year's number one spot belonged to Las Vegas, but in 2021 that changed. It's now a Texas city according to the latest Penski Annual Top Moving Report. Keep scrolling to find out which one.

Austin, TX.

Here comes Texas. The first of 4 Texas cities in the top 10. The city Texas proudly calls its state capital. Home to the University of Texas, Austin is also known for its live-music scene of blues, country, and rock. I always have a great time visiting 6th street.

Orlando, FL.

You know that saying, you learn something new every day? That was me. I had no idea Orlando is home to over a dozen theme parks. The king of which is Disney World with parks like Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Another top park is Universal Orlando. You'll also find top-notch water attractions.

Dallas, TX.

Just down the road from Abilene is the Big D, Dallas. Home of Downtown's Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in remembrance of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Dallas also has some of the most unique building architecture I've seen this close to home.

San Antonio, TX.

It's a double-whammy for Texas on this top 10 list. It's here you'll find The Alamo, a Spanish mission that has been preserved to commemorate the 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico. The River Walk was always a special treat for me on family vacations, hanging out at all the shops and restaurants while walking the San Antonio River.

Las Vegas, NV.

Simply known as Vegas, this city was the number one destination in 2020 but that has changed. Vegas is littered with casinos and world-class entertainment. One of my favorite things to do is to take a whirl on The High Roller, the world's largest observation wheel. Only one more city to go and there's a new number one. Is it a Texas city? Read on to find out.

Houston, TX.

Texas claims the top spot on this top 10 list. It's no wonder. There's a lot going on in Houston. Extending to Galveston Bay, the city is known for the Houston Space Center, NASA's astronaut training complex, and visitor center. Other attractions that might attract new families include the Houston Grand Opera and the Historic District with upscale restaurants and shops.

Bam. Texas takes 4 spots in the top 10 list of cities. It looks like more Americans are catching on to what I already know. Texas is a great place to live. With open plains and big cities, it has a little something for every taste.
