A woman from South Carolina was arrested earlier this month for misuse of the 911 system and filing a false report after allegedly calling the ambulance for a ride.

WCSC-TV reports 51-year-old Audrey Ferguson is accused of calling 911 hundreds of times over the past seven years solely because she needed a ride.

Ferguson is accused of faking illnesses and then walking out of the hospitals she had been transported to in downtown Charleston before doctors could evaluate her.

Ferguson was dismissive of her behavior, according to WCSC, because she saw herself as entitled to the trips because medicare covered ambulance rides.

Police report that each trip cost the city approximately 425 dollars for each ride, plus mileage, and distracted EMTs from actual calls.

The investigation is ongoing to just how many rides she has allegedly taken.
