Tim Lambesis Hearing Reveals New Details on Murder-for-Hire Investigation

Tim Lambesis
NBC San Diego

During yesterday’s hearing in which it was determined that As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis would indeed stand trial on murder-for-hire charges, there were some big revelations about the case. An investigation of the vocalist’s home apparently turned up dozens of vials of steroids and thousands of dollars in cash. Also, a trainer from Lambesis’ gym testified in court against the musician, claiming that Lambesis had approached him about finding a hit man to kill the singer’s estranged wife.

Lambesis was arrested on attempted murder-for-hire charges on May 7 and was taken into custody. Approximately three weeks later, the singer was freed on $2 million bail and has been on house arrest since. Yesterday (Sept. 16), Lambesis was ordered by a judge to stand trial for the alleged crimes.

According to San Diego’s NBC affiliate, yesterday’s hearing detailed an investigation by the San Diego police department in which they found a lock box containing “a lot of different quantities” of male enhancement-type drugs, male libido-type drugs and estrogen blocking drugs, along with more than $12,000 in cash found in Tim Lambesis’ bedroom.

Personal trainer Brett Kimball testified against Lambesis at Monday’s court hearing, although a judge ordered that Kimball’s face would not be shown on camera. “He wanted to know if maybe I could find someone to do it for him,” Kimball testified. “He knew that I knew people.”

Deputy Howard Bradley described the meeting Lambesis had with an undercover officer posing as a hit man, whom Lambesis allegedly handed an envelope containing $1,000 cash for expenses, his wife’s address and gate codes, pictures of her and specific dates when Lambesis would be spending time with the couple’s three adopted children. “He told me he wanted his wife gone,” Bradley testified before claiming that Lambesis agreed to a $20,000 fee and has already withdrawn the cash from his bank account.

Tim Lambesis will return to court on Oct. 22 for an arraignment. A date will then be set for Lambesis’ murder-for-hire trial. Watch a video report from NBC San Diego here and stay tuned for further updates as news breaks.
