Geoff Rickly of the popular post-hardcore band Thursday was recently robbed at gunpoint in New York. Along with money and a number of expensive electronics, the mugger also stole the rocker’s medicine that he needs for “intense medical treatments.”

Thursday was formed in New Jersey in 1997, successfully becoming one of the post-hardcore movement’s most celebrated bands. The group received mainstream attention with their third studio album, ‘War All the Time,’ with the title track and ‘Signals Over the Air’ garnering a positive spotlight through radio airplay and MTV exposure. However, Thursday went on an indefinite hiatus in late 2011.

The 34-year-old Geoff Rickly shared the story of his unfortunate mugging, along with his thanks for fan support, via his personal Twitter account earlier today (June 5):

Geoff Rickly is currently active with “scream power-violence” project United Nations. Apart from Rickly, the members of United Nations have remained anonymous under Ronald Reagan masks, but it has been reported that Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw), Ben Koller (Converge), Eric Cooper (Made Out of Babies), Christopher Conger (The Number Twelve Looks Like You) and Jonah Bayer (Lovekill) have contributed to the project.
