If you are like most, you think both names for the men's health awareness month of not shaving mean the same thing, but they really have different meanings.

According to the New York Daily News, No-Shave November encourages man and women to donate money they would have used for shaving products to the American Cancer Society.

So No-Shave November mostly encourages one not to shave and donate that money to cancer research.

Movember on the other hand was created by the Movember Foundation that started in Austrailia in 2003. Participants are encouraged to grow and groom a moustache and "use the power of the moustache to create conversations about men’s health and to raise funds."

So as you see, Movember and No-Shave November have basically the same purpose, to raise awareness of men's health issues such as testicular cancer, but do it in a totally different way.

Whichever you choose to do this month, just let your buds know to check themselves out once a week or so and get an annual prostate check for those of us over 40.
