A recent study out of Brazil found a link between middle-aged mortality and the ability to sit and stand unassisted.  To take the test, you are asked to sit and stand with the least amount of assistance from your limbs.  Depending on your performance, you are assigned a score that can be used to determine whether or not you are at risk.  If you were to perfectly complete the test, you would sit with your legs crossed and then stand back up without using your arms.

Before starting the test, participants of the study were told: "Without worrying about the speed of movement, try to sit and then to rise from the floor, using the minimum support that you believe is needed."
