A new survey found most people have rules for drinking to prevent themselves from becoming a total lush, possibly.

According to Ask.com, here are the top ten self-imposed drinking rules according to the survey:

  1. Not drinking at lunch, 22%.
  2. Only buying cheap wine, 21%.
  3. Not drinking on a work night, 19%.
  4. Waiting until a certain time of day to have your first drink, like never drinking before five o'clock, 18%.
  5. Not drinking certain things unless it's during the holidays, 17%.
  6. Never mixing beer and liquor, 16%.
  7. Only drinking wine with dinner, 15%.  It's not clear if that one means only drinking when you're eating, or not drinking hard liquor with dinner.
  8. Always having a local beer when you're on vacation, 14%.
  9. Avoiding a certain drink you got hammered on once, 11%.
  10. Waiting until Friday evening to have your first drink, 10%.
