Back in 2005, wine was more popular than beer because of the movie "Sideways."  But since then beer has been back on top, and is on top again this year, making it nine years in a row.

According to a new Gallup poll, 41% of Americans who drink alcohol say its beer that they choose to drink over anything else, 31% say wine, and 31% say liquor.

Overall, 64% of Americans drink alcohol at least once in a while.  Of those people, 27% has alcohol within 24 hours of taking the survey, and 57% had alcohol within a week of taking the survey.

The average person has 4.1 drinks per week.

Gallup also found that 74% of Americans are against lowering the drinking age to 18, even though we are the country with the highest drinking age.
